William J. Smith

William J. Smith of Southold died at home June 2, 2016. He was 67.

He was born Nov. 16, 1948, in Bay Shore to Johanna (Mulder) and Edwin A. Smith.

From 1967 to 1971, Mr. Smith served in the U.S. Coast Guard. Upon his honorable discharge, he became involved in the family’s fuel oil business, Long Island Reliable in Lindenhurst, and then Burt’s Reliable in Southold.

More recently, Mr. Smith was the proprietor of Fisherman’s Rest in Cutchogue.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Surozenski Smith.

Services will be private.
