‘Such a memorable celebration with wonderful lifelong friends.” That’s how Peggy Dickerson described her recent 40th anniversary festivities. Their wedding party (and spouses) came from Colorado, Vermont and Connecticut to help Peggy and her husband, Bob, mark the occasion North Fork-style. Friday night was spent at McCall Wines, where they enjoyed dinner from the food truck. Saturday was spent on the Prime Time fishing boat Jenglow. After a successful outing, the group headed to Orient by the Sea, where the day’s catch was prepared for their dinner! Sunday featured an enjoyable day at the beach and a farewell dinner. Congratulations and God bless!

Students involved in last summer’s classes at Old Town Arts and Crafts Guild chose to plant a butterfly garden as their project and put a lot of effort into research, planning and fundraising. This year, students are pursuing “On The Farm,” a project focused on the North Fork’s farm animals, flowers, fruits, vegetables, insects and landscape. They planted the beginnings of a beautiful garden on Guild grounds to honor the work of those who put so much time and energy into saving the butterflies and making the garden a reality. On Saturday, Aug. 6, at 10 a.m. those students will walk the red carpet on the Cutchogue Village Green and display their farm production. Thanks to guild members Ginger Mahoney, Elizabeth Wagner, David Arteaga, Chris Wruck, Adelaide Amend and Gayle Wagner, and helpers Will Voegel, Julianna Voegel, and Trimble’s Garden Center for their dedication to the children and making the butterfly project a reality.

Amanda Gatz, a junior engineering major at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, traveled with fellow students to Thailand to collaborate with students from Chulalongkorn University to create and implement a marketing plan for handmade products to benefit at-risk youth in northern Thailand. Amanda’s amazing junior year continued with a trip to Guatemala with the college’s chapter of Engineers Without Borders USA. There, they implemented a project to harvest rainwater as a source of drinking water. Way to go, Amanda!
