A new passenger ferry has joined the Cross Sound Ferry fleet, according to a press release. The Jennifer C., which can accommodate 50 cars and 300 passengers, made its maiden voyage Friday morning.

This newest addition will bring the peak number of ferry departures and arrivals between New London, Conn. to Orient Point to 62 times a day. The Jennifer C. is the eighth ferry currently operating on this route, according to the release.

The Jennifer C. is named after the wife of Cross Sound Ferry’s vice president, Adam Wronowski. The ferry is the former M/V Pamlico and was acquired by Cross Sound Ferry in late 2015, according to the release. The ship has undergone extensive improvements, including a new passenger cabin and complete renovation of the existing cabin. There is also a full-service Cross Sound Deli and lounge to offer sandwiches, salads and flatbreads.

“We are proud to be able to add the Jennifer C. to the fleet and equally as proud of the work we have done to provide the accommodations our customers have come to expect from Cross Sound,” Mr. Wronowski said in the release. “Passengers will find comfortable, climate-controlled cabins, a lounge, deli and ample work space and hookups for laptops and other devices.”
