Greenport man struck 7-Eleven clerk and off-duty officer

Ryan Greenberg

Southold Town police arrested a Greenport man after he struck a 7-Eleven clerk in the face Thursday morning and resisted arrest, according to a press release.

Ryan Greenberg, 23, struck the clerk in the face after he was refused service at 7-Eleven on Main Road in Greenport about 6:21 a.m., police said. When an off-duty Suffolk County Correction officer tried to intervene, Mr. Greenberg allegedly struck him in the face and then pushed another woman in the face as he left the store, officials said.

He tried to resist his arrest by fighting with the responding officers and kicked the rear passenger window of a police car while he was being transported to headquarters, causing damage, police said.

He was charged with felony criminal mischief, harassment and resisting arrest, police said.
