Elizabeth Loretta Volpe

Longtime Mattituck resident Elizabeth Loretta Volpe died Oct. 28. She was 74.

The daughter of Margaret (O’Brian) and John Feeney, she was born May 21, 1942, in Hollis, Queens and attended high school.

She is survived by her children Matt, Mark and Kate and their spouses, Sophia, Mary and Joe and her grandchildren, Alyson, Colin, Grace and Lily.

Good night Mom. We love you. Thank you for your love and your strength. Through all of your struggles, you never complained. You enjoyed, with passion, the simple things: family, friends, your home, a cup of coffee, a Diet Coke, and a smoke. You cared about what others cared about; your cared about them. You loved your family and your friends and their families and their friends. We are sad, but glad you are at peace. We will try and honor you, by being a little nicer, a little more interested in other people and not ourselves, we will try and complain a little less, and do all the things you wanted to do, but couldn’t. We will love each other, as you loved all of us.

But for a while, we will cry.

We are happy you are with God, your parents, your sister, Nana, and so many others who were waiting for you; but we are sad you are not in your house or at the beach waiting for us.

When we cry, it is about us. When we dance and sing and smile and laugh it is about you. Thank you.

The family received visitors Oct. 30 at Coster-Heppner Funeral Home in Cutchogue. A funeral Mass was held Oct. 31 at Our Lady of Good Counsel R.C. Church in Mattituck. Interment took place at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Cutchogue.
