James W. Mark passed away peacefully in his home at age 90, Oct. 17, 2016.

He was predeceased by his sisters; Jennie and Helen, and by his wife of 55 years, Dorothy, for whom he provided expert, loving care for over 25 years.

Born in Buffalo, Jim grew up in Chinatown, and after his marriage lived in Lynbrook, Malverne, East Marion, and for the last 14 years at Peconic Landing – all in New York.

He served in the U.S. Army in World War II in the 78th Infantry Division, ETO and was a POW in Germany.

A soft-spoken man, Jim was quietly passionate about his beliefs: the Mets, the Giants, travel, friends and family (who loved traveling with him). He was kind, warm, and generous to all who knew him, and he will be dearly missed by his many nieces/nephews, grandnieces/nephews, and great-grand nieces/nephews, as well as by friends at Peconic Landing, St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, and others who were touched by his kindness and good humor.

Visitation was held Oct. 21 at Horton-Mathie Funeral Home in Greenport. A service was held Oct. 22 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Greenport.
