Katherine Power

Former East Marion resident Katherine (McLees) Power, age 74, died peacefully at her home in Jensen Beach, Fla., on March 6 following a three-and-a-half-year struggle with brain cancer.

She was born Sept. 10, 1942, in Brooklyn. A parishioner of Holy Family Church in Port St. Lucie, Fla., she was married to Bernard Power on July 15, 1967, in Brooklyn.

Kathy was a graduate of All Saints Commercial High School in Brooklyn and worked on Wall Street before her marriage. She retired as vice president of bkp Corporation in Groton, Conn.

She enjoyed her children, grandchildren, tennis, entertaining, politics and current events.

Kathy was predeceased by her daughter Eileen Power in 1969, and her brother, Raymond McLees in 2002. She is survived by her husband, Bernard, of Jensen Beach, Fla.; two daughters Christine (Power) Grabarits (James) of Mystic, Conn., and Maureen (Power) Mead (Patrick) of Timonium, Md.; one son, Kevin Power of Mystic; and seven grandchildren, Mallory, Lily, Elliott and Daphne Mead of Timonium and Liam, Sean and Katie Power of Mystic.

The family will receive visitors Friday, March 10, from 3 to 7 p.m. at Horton-Mathie Funeral Home in Greenport. A funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 11, at St. Agnes R.C. Church in Greenport. Burial will take place at St. Charles Cemetery in Farmingdale.
