Elizabeth J. Drumm

Elizabeth J. “Betty” Drumm of Mattituck passed away peacefully March 17, 2017, at San Simeon by the Sound in Greenport. She was 79. 

Elizabeth was born Dec. 28, 1937, to Mary (Bradley) and Elliott Hooghkirk in Copiague. She attended Saint Mary’s High School in Manhassett and graduated in 1955. The family moved to Mattituck, where she met and married Walter G. Drumm April 4, 1959. Together they built a home on Deephole Drive and raised a family.

Elizabeth worked as a telephone operator for New York Telephone, retiring in 1990. She was also a Mattituck school bus driver employed by Sunrise Bus Company.

Predeceased by her husband in 1989, Elizabeth is survived by her children, Michael Drumm and his wife, Jo-Ann, of Southold, Susan Mickaliger and her husband, Kenneth, of Southold and Debra Doubrava and her husband, Derrick, of Clintondale, N.Y. She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Gabriella and Elizabeth Drumm, Kevin, Kaitlyn and Allison Mickaliger, Erin and Matthew Doubrava, as well as several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Friday, March 24, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Mattituck. The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 25, at Our Lady of Good Counsel R.C. Church in Mattituck.

Interment will follow at Sacred Heart R.C. Cemetery in Cutchogue.
