Jennifer Ann Woznick

Jennifer Ann Woznick, age 46, passed away in Burleson, Texas, on Easter Sunday, April 16, 2017, after a three-year-long battle with cancer. She was predeceased by her father, Charles J. Woznick.

Surviving relatives include her four children, Ryan, Camryn, Christian and Nicholas; her mother, Anna, and stepdad, Frederick Sterzenbach; her fiancé, Richard Minarcik; her sisters, Mary Williams and spouse, Erik, Anna Marie Pease and spouse, Justin, Catherine Cassesse and spouse, Kevin; her niece, Zarah, and nephews, Charlie and KJ; as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Jennifer was raised in East Marion and attended Oysterponds Elementary School. She continued on to North Fork Catholic School and Greenport and Mercy high schools.

Jennifer’s love for animals brought her to work at North Fork Animal Hospital in Southold. Her love for children led her to jobs as a summer camp counselor and school bus driver. Additionally, Jennifer was interested in the law, psychology and criminal justice, so she attended classes at John Jay College in Manhattan. Jennifer was happiest when she moved to Texas and became part of the Fort Worth Sherrif’s Department, but her time at the department ended abruptly when she was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer.

Jennifer was a gentle, understanding person with a kind word, a smile and a helping hand for anyone who needed it. She loved cooking, gardening, nature, and Friday game-nights with the kids. Her love for her children and faith in Jesus is what gave her the strength to fight for life so courageously. She will be greatly missed by her family and all those others who knew her and loved her so much.

A memorial service was held April 19 at Grace Lutheran Church in Fort Worth. A funeral service took place at DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Southold, officiated by Pastor George Summers, with the beautiful vocal and guitar accompaniment of Pattie Homan.

Jennifer was laid to rest next to her father at East Marion Cemetery. A gathering of family and friends followed at Hellenic Snack Bar in East Marion, one of Jennifer’s favorite places to stop whenever she came back to town.
