Kathleen Kelley Syron

Kathleen Kelley Syron, 52, of East Marion, died Sept. 15 at her home.

The daughter of Robert and Jean (Myhaver) Kelley, she was born July 9, 1965, in Rochester, N.Y.

Ms. Syron graduated from The College at Brockport, SUNY, with a bachelor’s degree in health science and from Nazareth College with a master’s degree in early childhood education. She worked as a teacher for Fairport (N.Y.) schools and Oysterponds Elementary School in Orient and served on the Oysterponds school board, PTA and the Gridiron Parents board.

On July 19, 1997, she married Robert Syron in Penfield, N.Y.

Family members said she enjoyed watching her children’s sports teams, fitness, family time and paddleboarding.

Predeceased by her father in 2015 and her mother in 2017, Ms. Syron is survived by her husband; her sons, Keegan and Brendan, and her daughter, Grace; her siblings, Barbara (Kelley) Edgett of Suwanee, Ga., Daniel, of Rochester, and Karen Kelley of Livonia, N.Y.

The family will receive visitors Tuesday, Sept. 19, from 3 to 7 p.m. at Horton-Mathie Funeral Home in Greenport. A funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 20, at St. Agnes R. C. Church in Greenport. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
