Southold Blotter: Maryland man arrested on DWI charge

Darwin Depaz Javier, 25, of Calverton was arrested on Saturday by Riverhead Town police during a traffic stop, according to Southold Town police. He had an active arrest warrant for aggravated unlicensed operation, a misdemeanor, issued by Southold Town Justice Court, police said. Riverhead officers transferred custody to Southold, officials said.

• A Maryland man was found speeding Saturday on County Road 48 near Ackerly Pond Lane in Southold and failing to maintain in his lane of travel.

Daniel Aranda-Jaime, 26, was arrested around 5:45 p.m. for driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, according to Southold police.

• There was a report Saturday of two people swimming to shore in Arshamomaque Pond Preserve in Southold after their boat capsized, police said. The original caller said the two people were able to swim back to shore before police arrived, the report states.

• A man reported last Monday that he left his cellphone, wallet and pistol license in the cupholder of a seat in Mattituck Cinemas and when he returned to retrieve them, they had been stolen, police said.

• A man failed to stay within the double yellow lines and crashed into a cedar tree on the roadway into Orient Beach State Park, police said. He was transported to Eastern Long Island Hospital with head pain and bleeding on Saturday around 3 p.m., the report said.

Those who are named in police reports have not been convicted of any crime or violation. The charges against them may later be reduced or withdrawn, or they may be found innocent.
