Southold Blotter: Greenport man arrested for driving while intoxicated

Jose Rodriguez-Ramirez, 40, of Greenport was arrested for driving while intoxicated and driving without a license at 6:24 p.m. last Wednesday on Pike Street, according to Southold Town police.

• Police responded to a report of a car stuck in the construction area near Boisseau Avenue in Southold on Route 48 and saw a vehicle off the road, on top of construction material, police said.

Thomas Hamlin, 61, was identified as the driver and was arrested for driving while intoxicated on Friday around 9:30 p.m., according to Southold Town police.

• A Mattituck man called police when he noticed a tow dolly, valued at $500, had been removed from his barn on Saturday, police said.

• A Southold man fell victim to a phone scam last Monday, when he received a call from someone claiming to be an Apple Care representative, police said. The unknown caller then said that if the man wanted his computer to work, he would have to buy two $100 iTunes gift cards and provide the codes over the phone, the report states. The man then contacted Apple support, who confirmed they had not contacted him, officials said.

• A Cutchogue woman reported her canoe missing from her beach house sometime in the past five months, police said. It is valued at $100.

Those who are named in police reports have not been convicted of any crime or violation. The charges against them may later be reduced or withdrawn, or they may be found innocent.
