Cops: No serious injuries after rollover crash in Mattituck

The driver of a Subaru SUV escaped serious injury after a rollover crash Friday morning in Mattituck.

The woman driving the red Subaru was traveling north on Westphalia Avenue when a Ford Fusion traveling west on County Road 48 collided into the SUV, according to Southold Town police. The SUV landed on its roof about 200 feet down Westphalia Avenue away from the intersection.

The Mattituck Fire Department responded and the driver of the SUV was transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center for treatment of injuries that were not life threatening, police said. The driver of the Fusion was not injured.

The crash occurred about 9:15 a.m. No charges were immediately filed, police said.

Traffic was being diverted away from Westphalia Avenue near the crash as the car was towed, but County Road 48 remained open in both directions.
