Kevin E. Gallagher of Southold died April 21. He was 79.
He was born Aug. 27, 1939, to Anne (Whitely) and Joseph Gallagher in Richmond Hill, N.Y.
Mr. Gallagher attended Xavier High School and St. Francis Preparatory School.
He married Dorothy (Donaghy) Gallagher May 18, 1963, in St. Patrick’s Church in Huntington.
Mr. Gallagher served in the U.S. Army for four years as a private E-2 and worked at New York Telephone for 36 years.
He was a commissioner and past president of Centerport Fire Department, a member of Southold Fire Department and a served as president of Turtle Reef Club. He enjoyed carpentry and anything electrical, his family said.
Mr. Gallagher is survived by his wife; his daughters Anne Maffucci, Meghan Martin and Mary Ryan; and seven grandchildren.
Visitors will be received Tuesday, April 23, from 4 to 8 p.m. with a Firematic service at 7 p.m. at Horton-Mathie Funeral Home in Greenport. A service will take place Wednesday, April 24, at 10 a.m. at St. Agnes R.C. Church in Greenport, officiated by Father Richard Hoerning and Father Peter Garry. The funeral home assisted the family with a private cremation.
