Pest control company expands to Cutchogue

Roughly two weeks ago, East End pest control company North Shore Exterminating opened a new tick and mosquito control office in Cutchogue.

John Bennett, co-owner of North Shore Exterminating, is in his 34th season with the company. He and his business partner, Craig Rosenberg, started the business around 18 years ago. As the company grew, they felt it important to create a separate division specific to ticks and mosquitoes. Mr. Bennett said they also wanted people who use the company’s services to be able to put faces to the names of people they’ve been speaking with for so many years.

“We added a location — an actual home so customers can walk into our office and meet our people face-to-face,” he said. “We’re local. We’re not coming from Patchogue or Shirley … Our employees live on the North Fork.”

As far as ownership goes, nothing has changed. But the new, centrally located office does offer a sense of convenience for both company employees and customers alike.

“It was something that John had been thinking about for a while,” Mr. Rosenberg said, “And then he put a bid out on the building last summer … it was a pretty quick decision, and it was a no-brainer to be just off the highway.”

Mr. Rosenberg said the phone has been ringing off the hook with calls about the new office and related signage.

“It’s nice to have a location where we don’t have to run to Southampton,” said Mr. Bennett, who originally founded Premier Pest Control in Southampton more than 20 years ago. “We can park some trucks there, our guys can have a place to do paperwork, things like that.”

He said that much of the feedback he’s received has been positive.

“Even when we were first moving in,” Mr. Bennett said, “the general consensus was that it’s very local and a lot of people were saying it was a really good thing, that there’s never been a pest control office. We have been getting a lot of walk-ins, people just talking to us, getting advice on their homes, for estimates, just to get to know our staff.”

The important thing to remember, Mr. Bennett said, is that the team members are all part of the communities they work in.

“We’re hoping to be bigger and better than ever with this new home,” Mr. Rosenberg said.

North Shore Exterminating’s new tick and mosquito control division is located at 33150 Main Road in Cutchogue. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturday, 8-9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The company offers 24-hour services.
