James J. Pirillo

James J. Pirillo of Greenport died May 1. He was 74.

He was born in Greenport Aug. 8, 1944, to Catherine (Kay) and James V. Pirillo.

Mr. Pirillo attended high school and married Cynthia Simpson June 19, 1965, at St. Agnes R.C. Church in Greenport.

He owned Hoppy’s Cleaners in Greenport for 54 years.

Mr. Pirillo was honored as a 50-year member of the Greenport Fire Department and enjoyed fishing.

Predeceased by his parents, he is survived by his wife, Cynthia; his sons, James (Sylvia), of Greenport, and Peter (Jaime), of Southold; his sister, Virginia (John) Smith; and his three grandchildren, Lukas, Mason and Jaxon.

Visitors were received May 5 at Horton-Mathie Funeral Home in Greenport, where a chapel service followed May 6. Interment took place at St. Agnes Cemetery, officiated by Pastor Garret Johnson.
