Peconic Landing vice president honored with Eli Pick Facility Leadership award

Gregory Garrett, executive vice president and administrator of health services at Peconic Landing, was awarded the American College of Health Care Administrators’ Eli Pick Facility Leadership award.

This year’s award — celebrated in March at ACHCA’s annual Convocation and Exposition event in Louisville, Ky. — “is based on the premise that community excellence reflects leadership excellence,” according to a press release by Peconic Landing.

It was first introduced in 2008 by a former ACHCA employee, the late Eli Pick. Mr. Pick served as executive director of the Ballard Rehabilitation Center in Des Plaines, Ill. for 30-plus years, caring for his residents, their families and his community, the press release said.

The award is presented in his memory, with special attention paid to professionalism and leadership in long-term care. Eligibility depends on three years of skilled nursing center survey data, an 80% or greater occupancy and a three-year avoidance of a Special Focus Facility status.

“Greg is an outstanding leader and is deserving of this honor,” said Robert Syron, president and CEO of Peconic Landing. “I have the pleasure of working with him side by side each and every day.”

Mr. Garrett joined Peconic Landing in 2006. He said the award is a direct reflection of the hard work and pride the Peconic Landing team puts into their health care services each day.

“We take the work that we do here at Peconic Landing seriously,” Mr. Garrett said, “and it’s heartening to see our efforts rewarded with this prestigious honor.”

Only 7% of the nation’s communities qualified for the award.
