John Sidor Jr.

John Sidor Jr. of Mattituck died suddenly Oct. 14, 2019, at Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead. The lifelong North Fork resident was 84 years old.

Born Feb. 4, 1935, in Greenport, N.Y., to Helen (Bialeski) and John Sidor Sr., he was a graduate of Mattituck High School.

On Nov. 13, 1960, he married the former Catherine Pawlikowski at St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church in Riverhead.

He was farmer and member of the Southold Town Agricultural Advisory Board. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Ostrabrama R.C. Church and member of the Holy Name Society.

Surviving is his wife, Cathy; his four children, John III (Carolyn), of Mattituck, Jeffrey, of Cohoes, N.Y., Timothy (Patricia), of Braintree, Mass. and Gary (Maureen), of Ashburn, Va.; his brother, Edward, of Mattituck; and 11 grandchildren, Catherine, Thomas, Brian, Ryan, Jason, Emily, Mackenzie, Bohdan, John, Lucas and Eliot.

The family received friends Friday, Oct. 18, at DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Mattituck where parish prayer services were held by Father Robert Wolosik and Father Stan Wadowski. The Liturgy of Christian Burial was celebrated Saturday, Oct. 19, at Our Lady of Ostrabrama R.C. Church by Father Robert Wolosik. Interment took place at Sacred Heart R.C. Cemetery.
