Howard Simon

Howard Simon of Cutchogue was born Jan. 13, 1947, in Brooklyn, NY. He passed away Jan. 15, 2020, having just turned 73, at Yale New Haven Hospital.

He leaves behind his wife, Lorry (née Kaloski).

He graduated from Van Buren High School in Queens, N.Y. He received his bachelor of arts in biology and master of science in environmental science from Adelphi University in Garden City, N.Y., in 1968 and 1970. He went on to get his doctor of medicine, M.D., from Universidad de Guadalajara, Mexico in 1975. He finished his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at The Long Island Jewish Medical Center in Queens, N.Y., in 1980.

He was the vice president and president at County Obstetrics and Gynecology Group, P.C., a private practice in Connecticut affiliated with Yale New Haven Hospital, for 38 years. He was also an associate clinical professor, Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology, Yale University, School of Medicine, New Haven, Conn.

He received numerous awards and accolades over his career. He was an active participant in numerous societies, a published medical author, a speaker and lecturer on various medical topics and a philanthropist. He enjoyed life to its fullest; sailing, getting his pilot’s license, his rescue diving certification, biking, running marathons, traveling and always exploring new challenges.

Besides his wife, Lorry, he leaves behind his daughters, Sarah and Lindsay; grandsons, Eli, Isaac and Henry; sister, Beverly Goldstein and brother, Sheldon Simon. A celebration of life will occur in June 2020.
