Violet H. Romeril

Violet H. Romeril of Greenport died March 3 at The Shores at Peconic Landing. She was 93.

She was born Nov. 14, 1926, to Viola and Walter Herbst in Floral Park, N.Y.

Ms. Romeril made a career as a teacher with Parkway School District in St. Louis, Mo.

She was a board member and volunteer with East End Hospice and enjoyed needlepoint, sewing, weaving and reading.

Ms. Romeril was predeceased by her husband, Albert, known as Jack, in 2014 and by two children, Albert III and Jean Ann. She is survived by her children Miriam Leonard of North Carolina and Alice Moke of California; sisters Constance Hardie and Priscilla Magers; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Coster-Heppner Funeral Home in Cutchogue assisted the family with private cremation. Interment will take place Thursday, March 5, at 11:30 a.m. at Cutchogue Cemetery.
