Eleanor Araneo

Eleanor Araneo of Peconic Landing in Greenport died Thursday, April 2, 2020. She was 95 years old.

Eleanor was born March 19, 1925, in Rochester, N.Y., to Elsie and Karl Gairing. She went on to graduate from Rochester High School.

On Sept. 6, 1947, she married Albert Araneo in Irvington, N.J., and together they had two children. After New Jersey, Eleanor resided in Shoreham, N.Y., from 1999 to 2014, before making her home in Greenport. She was a member of the Lutheran Church of America.

Predeceased by her husband in 2008, Eleanor is survived by her children, Barbara Araneo of Salt Lake City, Utah, and William Araneo (Mary Lou) of Cutchogue, and three grandchildren.

Interment will take place at Calverton National Cemetery, where Eleanor will be laid to rest alongside her husband, Albert.
