James A. Barker

James A. Barker of Laurel died at home on Sunday, April 11, 2021. He was 48 years old.

James was born on Sept. 1, 1972, in Washington, D.C., to Florence M. Snider (née Anton) and William Bradford Barker. He grew up on the North Fork and attended Mattituck-Cut­ch­ogue schools through the ninth grade. He went on to graduate from St. James School in Hagerstown, Md. Afterwards he attended High Point University in High Point, N.C., where he attained his bachelor of arts degree.

Prior to moving back to the North Fork three years ago, James had also lived in New York City, Queens and Syosset. He was an owner and manager of three restaurants in Manhattan.

Predeceased by his father, James is survived by his daughter, Libby Melanie Barker; his mother, Florence M. Snider; and brothers, William Bradford Barker, John F. Barker and William G. Snider (Jayla).

A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Sunday, April 25, at Advent Lutheran Church in Mattituck, with the Rev. George Summers officiating.
