Dorothy Francis Alice Stepnoski

Dorothy Francis Alice Stepnoski, lifelong Southold resident, died at home on Sunday, Oct. 15, 2023. She was 87 years old.

Dorothy was born on May 25, 1936, in Greenport to Genevieve (née Sakowicz) and Anton P. Sepenoski Sr. She was one of three children. She graduated from Southold High School.

On Feb. 18, 1958, she married the love of her life, Alexander F. Stepnoski Sr., at Our Lady of Ostrabrama R.C. Church in Cutchogue. Together they had three children and made their home in Southold.

In her professional career, Dorothy worked as a secretary for Townsend Insurance in Greenport and as a self-employed farmer. She was a member of Our Lady of Ostrabrama R.C. Church and a member of the Sacred Heart Rosary Society.

Predeceased by her husband, Alexander, and brothers Antone Sepenoski and John Sepenoski, Dorothy is survived by her children Lori Phillips of Lakeland, Fla., Alexander F. Stepnoski Jr. of Southold and Mary Olsen of Ronkonkoma, N.Y.; and granddaughter Rosemarie Stepnoski of Southold.

The family will receive friends Thursday, Oct. 26, from 4 to 7 p.m. at DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Southold. The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 27, at Our Lady of Good Counsel R.C. Church in Mattituck, officiated by Father Ryszard Ficek. Interment will follow at Sacred Heart R.C. Cemetery in Cutchogue.
