Marie Jeanne Downs

Marie Jeanne Downs passed away peacefully at the age of 81 on Aug. 16, 2026.

Marie was the daughter of Ernest D. Downs and Patricia McKinnon Downs, born and raised in Riverhead and a graduate of Riverhead High School, Class of 1963.

Marie is survived by her sisters, Patricia Donlon (John), Kathleen Fabrykewicz (Robert), and Elizabeth Downs; nephews and nieces Christopher Courtenay, Cari Courtenay-Quirk (David), Daniel Courtenay (Paula), Stephanie Donlon Zito (Mark); great- nieces and nephews Madeleine Quirk, Julian Quirk, Lucia Fitzgerald Courtenay, Alexander Fitzgerald Courtenay, Diego Fitzgerald Courtenay, Bella Zito and Enzo Zito.

The family will receive visitors on Tuesday, Oct. 13, from 2 to 6 p.m. at Horton-Mathie Funeral Home in Greenport. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2026 at St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church in Greenport at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Agnes Cemetery in Greenport.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Kanas Center for Hospice Care, Westhampton Beach.
