Carolyn L. Smith

Carolyn L. Smith, age 72, of Greenport, passed away peacefully on Sept. 5, 2026, at Stony Brook Southampton Hospital, surrounded by her loved ones.

Born on Dec. 14, 1953, in Aurora, N.C., Carolyn was the beloved daughter of the late Eddie Randolph Smith and Irene Smith. She was a longtime resident of Greenport, where she worked as an office clerk for the North Fork Housing Alliance for 25 years before
retiring in 2021.

Carolyn was a devoted member of Bethel United Pentecostal Church in Old Westbury, N.Y. She had a deep love for music and especially enjoyed singing. Her love of music was a beautiful expression of her faith and brought happiness to those around her.

Carolyn is survived by her son Rashad Lawson Sr., and her daughter Kwanita Palmer; her grandchildren Adrianna Golovatii, Rashad Lawson Jr., Sean Lawson, and Shackela Palmer.

Carolyn was one of 10 children. She was predeceased by her brother William Smith. She is survived by her siblings Doris Smith, Vera Bell, Eddie Jr. Smith, Robert Lee Smith, Samuel Richard Smith, Steven Smith, Bernice Smith, Dennis Smith, and Philip Smith, who will cherish her memory and the many years they shared as a family.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, Oct. 24, at 11a.m. at Jefferson Temple Church of God in Christ, located in Cutchogue.
