Barbara Jean (Genovese) Verity

Barbara Jean (Genovese) Verity, born Oct. 8, 1957, in Greenport, passed away peacefully. 

She grew up in Southold, graduating high school in 1975, and earned a master’s degree in special education from Stony Brook University in 1985.

Barbara devoted over 40 years to education as a caring special education and reading teacher in Riverhead, and later in Florida, touching countless lives through her patient guidance and advocacy. A devoted mother, grandmother, and loyal friend, Barbara loved reading, music, and above all, spending time with her three beloved granddaughters.

She is survived by her brother, Kevin Nuhfer; and her three granddaughters. She was predeceased by her parents, Delmar and Connie Nuhfer, and her brother, Tommy Nuhfer.
