Major party candidates in the First Congressional District and Second State Assembly district met for a set of debates at the Vineyard Caterers in Aquebogue Wednesday night.
Over 100 attended the dinner-debate hosted by the Mattituck Chamber of Commerce before the Nov. 6 election.
The audience consisted of members of local chambers of commerce, the Long Island Farm Bureau, Long Island Wine Council and local elected officials. The event was not open to the public. READ
Perry Gershon, 56, of East Hampton won Tuesday’s Democratic primary race for the 1st Congressional District with 35.5 percent of the vote, according to results collected by the Suffolk County Board of Elections. READ
Southampton Town Supervisor Jay Schneiderman announced Tuesday that he will seek the Democratic nod to run for Suffolk County comptroller, a position currently held by Republican John Kennedy, who, like Mr. Schneiderman, is a former Suffolk County legislator. READ
