A 24-year-old Mattituck man was arrested after fleeing police on an all-terrain vehicle early Saturday morning, Southold Police said.
John R. Kopf was driving an ATV on Sound Avenue in Mattituck. When police attempted to stop him, Mr. Kopf fled at a high rate of speed, police said. Police pursued him on Cox Neck Road up to Breakwater Road before he eventually looped back around to West Mill Road and onto Cox Neck and attempted to enter a private drive.
Police stopped him and charged him unlawful fleeing, a misdemeanor, and 11 vehicle and traffic violations.
