In our 2013 endorsement of Mary Bess Phillips and Julia Robins for Greenport Village trustee, we wrote about communication. At the time, Village Board meetings had become a recurring showdown between a small group of residents and the board.
The three candidates running in this year’s Greenport Village Board election have different ideas about how $1.3 million from the tentative PSEG-Long Island cable project agreement should be spent.

Another hopeful is vying for a spot on the Village Board in the upcoming March elections, ensuring the races for two trustee seats will be contested.
Jack Martilotta, a science teacher and football coach in Greenport, said he is running to help improve the village’s infrastructure and to do his part to keep the community vibrant.
