In order to restructure the program, Bishop McGann-Mercy High School has decided not to field a varsity boys soccer team this fall season.
The school wants to make sure the varsity is able to compete with upperclassmen, mostly seniors, and not with just freshmen, sophomore and juniors.
In previous years, the familiar sight of Ed Meier instructing players on the Bishop McGann-Mercy Diocesan High School baseball field for the start of preseason practice in early March was a natural part of the school calendar. It meant that spring was right around the corner.
But this week it was different.
