Prom night is this Friday — an important event for many of our young people. At 6 p.m., the PTSA will generously host a pre-prom reception for Mattituck students on the school’s front lawn. Community members, family and friends are all invited to come see them all dressed up, having their names announced and enjoying refreshments. Then the students board buses for the Hyatt in Riverhead for a night to remember.

As May begins, many of our seniors are deciding where next September will take them, since most acceptances must be completed the first few days of the month. It’s an exciting time — and bittersweet as well. To those who are preparing to graduate at the 102nd commencement: Enjoy the next few weeks as the time at Mattituck High School winds down.
