A 69-year-old Hampton Bays man was arrested for driving while intoxicated Sunday evening, Southold Police said.

Peter Avedon was observed passing a vehicle in a no-passing zone while driving eastbound on Route 25 in Peconic around 6:15 p.m., police said.

Upon further investigation, he was found to be intoxicated, a police report stated.

Mr. Avedon was arrested on misdemeanor DWI charges and cited for passing in a no-passing zone and failure to maintain lanes, according to the report.

The defendant’s vehicle was seized and Mr. Avedon was held overnight at Southold Town Police headquarters pending arraignment in Southold Town Justice Court, police said.

Two Southold Town residents were arrested for driving while intoxicated Thursday, according to Southold police.

Wendy Chapman, 59, of Peconic was arrested following a single-car crash around 11:30 p.m. at the intersection of Skunk Lane and Eugene Road in Cutchogue, police said.

Upon further investigation Ms. Chapman was found to be intoxicated and driving without a license, police said.

She was arrested, transported to police headquarters and held for arraignment.

Around the same time Thursday, officers stopped Ovidio Giron, 39 of Southold on Route 25 in Mattituck for failing to maintain his lane, police said.

Upon further investigation Mr. Giron was found intoxicated with an open alcoholic beverage in his car, police said.

Mr. Giron also did not have a valid driver’s license, according to a police report.

He was arrested, transported to police headquarters and held for arraignment.

A Mattituck woman was arrested for driving while intoxicated Tuesday night in Cutchogue, according to Southold Town police.

Shortly after 11 p.m., police stopped Linda Costanzo, 61, for failing to maintain her lane as she traveled westbound on Route 48, police said.

Upon further investigation, police found Ms. Costanzo to be intoxicated, police said.

She was arrested and transported to Southold Town police headquarters awaiting morning arraignment.

A Greenport woman was arrested for driving while intoxicated early Saturday morning in Greenport, according to Southold Town Police.

Laura Hagan, 44, was stopped for a traffic violation about 3:34 a.m. on Wiggins Street, police said.

Upon further investigation she was found to be intoxicated, police said. Hagan was arrested for misdemeanor DWI and transported to headquarters awaiting arraignment.

Southold Police also issued a release on a Greenport man who was arrested Saturday for criminal trespassing at a Main Street home in the Village.

The arrest was in connection to an incident that happened on June 29 when James Lawrence, 36, was reported to be crouching under a window in a fenced-in area outside the home, police said.

Mr. Lawrence was arrested and charged with misdemeanor criminal trespass. Police did not specify why the arrest came more than a month after the incident.

He was transported to police headquarter pending arraignment.

A Greenport man was arrested Tuesday night for driving while intoxicated for a second time, according to Southold Police.

Officers stopped Rudy Elias, 34, after he was observed making an unsafe lane change on Third Street in Greenport around 7 p.m., police said.

Upon further investigation, Mr. Elias was found to be intoxicated, according to a police report.

Mr. Elias had previously been convicted on charges of driving while intoxicated, police said. His car was impounded and Mr. Elias was taken to police headquarters awaiting arraignment.

An underage Mattituck man was arrested on a drunken driving charge Monday, Southold Town police said.

Anthony Kowal, 20, was stopped by police just after midnight on Wickham Avenue in Mattituck, where police found he was intoxicated, according to a police report.

He was arrested for misdemeanor DWI and transported to headquarters to await a court appearance.

No other charges were listed in a police report.

An underage Jamesport woman was arrested for driving while intoxicated Thursday morning in Mattituck, according to a Southold Town police press release.

Yvonne McKay, 20, was pulled over on Route 25 in Mattituck a little after midnight for failing to maintain her lane, police said. Upon further investigation, Ms. McKay was found to be intoxicated, according to a report.

She was arrested for misdemeanor DWI and held at police headquarters overnight awaiting arraignment.

Additionally, Southold Police issued a release Thursday of the arrest of Stacey Sykes, 33, of New York for unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle July 19. Ms. Sykes was stopped for a traffic violation in the Adams Street parking lot in Greenport. Ms. Sykes was found to have a suspended license. She was transported to headquarters and released on bail.

A Southold Man was arrested on drunk driving charges after a crash in Southold Tuesday evening, police said.

Nicholas Koehler, 24, was heading south on Oaklawn Avenue in a Ford truck at around 5 p.m. when he struck another vehicle driven by a Southold woman, police said. Mr. Koehler failed several roadside sobriety tests, according to a report.

Ms. Koehler was charged with misdemeanor DWI, police said. No injuries were reported.

He was taken to police headquarters and held overnight for arraignment.

A Laurel man was arrested for drunk driving on Route 48 near Love Lane in Mattituck Tuesday evening, according to Southold Town Police.

At about 8 p.m. George McDowell, 47, was stopped for speeding and failing to signal while changing lanes and found to be intoxicated, police said.

Mr. McDowell was charged with felony DWI and held overnight at police headquarters for arraignment, police said.
