Rotary, scouts ‘stuff a bus’ for Sandy victims

DEBORAH DOTY PHOTO | North Fork rotarians and scouts helped collect goods for storm victims at the Cutchogue King Kullen Sunday afternoon.

The Rotary Clubs of Southold and Greenport and Boy Scout Troop 6 set up outside the Cutchogue King Kullen store on Sunday afternoon and with donations from shoppers completed their “stuff a bus” drive (actually it was a box truck) to assist victims of Hurricane Sandy.

The volunteers said residents generously helped fill the truck to the top with blankets, sheets, warm clothing, water, cleaning supplies and other items. Rotarians drove the truck to Babylon on Sunday afternoon to distribute the goods.

Rotary Club members said King Kullen’s management played a large role in the events success by arranging palettes of water, paper towels and other items in the store for those who wanted to contribute.
