Two youths were lying in the road on Wickham Avenue in Mattituck for “fun” last week, according to a police report.

Police were called to the area around 7:30 p.m. last Tuesday after a driver saw the youths lying in the street. A cop arrived on scene and found the boy and girl inside a nearby car.

The two admitted they had been lying in the road and said they “did not want to get hurt, they were just having fun,” according to the officer’s report. The officer warned the youths about the dangers of what they were doing and sent them on their way.

• A boat motor worth $1,500 was reportedly stolen off a fishing boat parked on Route 48 in Southold, the boat’s owner told police Friday. No arrests were reported in connection with the alleged theft.

• Someone slashed all four tires of a Montana man’s pickup truck in Greenport last week, according to a police report.

The man reportedly called police last Wednesday around 5 a.m. and showed police the four Cooper tires — worth a combined $800 — had been damaged while the vehicle was parked at Eastern Long Island Kampground on Queens Street.

Those who are named in police reports have not been convicted of any crime or violation. The charges against them may later be reduced or withdrawn, or they may be found innocent.
