In the tradition of Jazz at Newport and the after-hours jam sessions on Manhattan’s 52nd Street in the days of be-bop, bassist/composer Steve Watson hosts six Saturdays of unpredictable, swinging jazz at the Hotel Indigo, Riverhead starting this week.
Inspired by the masterful piano-trio stylings of Oscar Peterson, Bill Evans, Chick Corea and Ahmad Jamal, the Steve Watson trio presents Bill Smith on piano and James Benard on drums, in addition to exciting performances and impromptu appearances by guest artists from each weekend’s featured Winterfest events.
On Sundays during Winterfest, Hotel Indigo will also host a Jazz Brunch from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Make a weekend of it and ask about Jazz on the Vine room packages. Call 631-369-2200 or visit indigoeastend.com.
