Jerome A. Martocchia

Lifelong Greenport resident Jerome A. Martocchia died March 26. He was 73. 

He was born Aug. 6, 1941, in Greenport to Bertha (Andrews) and Nicholas Martocchia. He married Maria Feb. 14, 1992, in Greenport.

Mr. Martocchia served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1959 to 1963, achieving the rank of corporal and earning a Good Conduct medal. He was an American Legion member.

He retired after working for Burns and Roe on Plum Island.

Family members said he enjoyed golf.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Martocchia is survived by his sons, Jerry Jr., Tony and Joseph; his stepsons, James and Chris Herbstritt; his sister, Camilla; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

The family will receive visitors Saturday, March 28, from 2 to 5 p.m. at Horton-Mathie Funeral Home in Greenport, where Southold American Legion Post 803 will lead a 3 p.m. service.

Memorial donations may be made to East End Hospice or North Fork Animal Welfare League.
