A new gas station may be coming to Route 48, though the initial plan for the property was missing a few things, the Southold Town Planning Board has determined.
Those items included enough handicapped parking, a landscaping plan, details about the proposed station’s sign and a detailed floorplan.
“The site plan is pretty basic,” said town planner Brian Cummings.
If approved, the combo gas station/convenience store would be built at the intersection of Route 48 and Youngs Avenue and would feature 18 fuel pumps, according to the plan.
While some on the board said gas stations were needed in that area, planner Mark Terry asked about the impacts of vacuuming on the south part of the property to surrounding residents.
The site plan will now be resubmitted to include the missing details.
