Volunteers sought to help town’s Emergency Management Committee
Are you interested in helping in an emergency shelter? Here’s your chance.
The Town of Southold Emergency Management Committee will host an Emergency Shelter orientation class for volunteers looking to help out in storms or other emergencies.
There will be two opportunities to attend this 2 1/2 hour program: July 18 from 2:30 to 5 p.m. and July 22 from 7 to 9:30 p.m., according to Don Fisher, the emergency coordinator for Southold’s Emergency Management Committee.
The program will be held at the Peconic Lane Community Center, (the old Peconic Lane Elementary School), on Peconic Lane.
It will introduce and review the skills needed to open and staff a Southold Town Emergency Shelter during a hurricane or other time of need. The class is free. Volunteers are needed and can RSVP to Don Fisher, Emergency Coordinator, by email at [email protected], or by phone at 631-765-2757.
