The memory and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was celebrated Sunday at the Southold Anti-Bias Task Force’s event held at the Cutchogue Presbyterian Church and North Fork Reform Synagogue.
Reverend Tisha Williams, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Bridgehampton, delivered the keynote address. Rabbi Barbara Horowitz-Sheryll of North Fork Reform Synagogue in Cutchogue gave the invocation.
LeRoy Heyliger of Mattituck read an excerpt from Dr. King’s “Letter from Birmingham Jail.” Dr. King was born Jan. 15, 1929, and was killed at the age of 39 in 1968. His birthday has been honored every year on the third Monday of January since 1986.
