A Lure to close; Southold Social on hiatus
Restaurateur Adam Lovett and chef Tom Schaudel, partners in Mattituck’s aMano, Southold Social and A Lure in Greenport are trimming their operations.
As of Oct. 11, Lovett and Schaudel quietly and permanently shuttered A Lure Chowder House and Oysteria after 16 years serving sea-centric and creative, convivial fare to the East End in the Port of Egypt Marine. Usually, Nov. 1 is their final day of service for the season. This past spring, the Hinkley Company acquired the 80-year-old family-run marina and boatworks, and made the decision not to renew A Lure’s lease for another season.
The fate of Southold Social is less clear. As of yesterday, sources within the restaurant group told Northforker that reports of the beloved spot’s closure — the subject of regular column The Dish in our upcoming print November issue — are not set in stone, and the Mediterranean-minded destination on Main Road will close after Saturday night service on Oct. 31, but its future at this time is unclear. For now, Lovett says Southold Social is on a hiatus, at least through the winter season.
AMano (13550 Main Road, Mattituck, 631-298-4800), which opened in June 2008, will remain open as will Schaudel and Lovett’s catering businesses.
