Sound Avenue road work to detour eastbound traffic in Laurel
North Fork drivers should allow extra travel time Monday as road work will detour eastbound traffic on Sound Avenue in Laurel, officials said.
Crews will resurface roughly a quarter-mile stretch beginning at Aldrich Lane, with work scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Drivers will be detoured at Aldrich Lane to Franklinville Road and onto Main Road. The westbound lane will remain open, but delays are expected due to a lane shift.
“In order to safely complete this project with as little disruption to traffic as possible, a detour will take place,” Highway Superintendent Dan Goodwin said.
Traffic in both directions may be stopped briefly to allow equipment to move through the work area. Highway Department workers will direct traffic.
