Last Friday began like so many other days in the past year for Dylan Newman. He woke up, his nurse came to administer his chemotherapy, he showered and then headed off to school. The difference this Friday was that the 15-year-old had successfully completed his final round of a 53-week chemotherapy regimen. READ

Baseball has always been a huge part of Dylan Newman’s life. The Southold teen even played on the school’s varsity team as an eighth-grader in the spring of 2017. Ever since he was diagnosed with Ewing’s sarcoma, a type of bone cancer, Dylan has funneled that enthusiasm for baseball as motivation. READ

A community yard sale held each September in Mattituck takes on a greater meaning than the sum of its parts.

The Doorhy family lawn transforms into a hub for treasure hunters. Books, clothing, handmade furniture, and other finds, are donated by dozens of community members and purchased by others. The money raised from the sale totals in the thousands. READ

During each round of chemotherapy in Manhattan, Dylan Newman’s parents give him a fresh pack of baseball cards. 

Dylan, 14, who is battling Ewing’s sarcoma, has a wall filled with signed cards and baseballs in his room in Southold, said his parents, Todd and Tanya Newman.  READ
