Coming into the season, Greenport/Southold/Shelter Island field hockey coach Todd Gulluscio expected this to be his final season coaching the Clippers. He hoped to go out on a high note.

The Clippers have done just that. Today they’ll travel to Harborfields for the programs first playoff game in at least two decades at 2:30 p.m. Now the question is, how far can the Clippers make it in the playoffs?

They’ll face a tough challenge from Harborfields, the No. 2 seed in the Class B bracket. Greenport is seeded No. 7. The two teams did not meet in the regular season.

Greenport finished 10-6 overall while playing in Division III. Harborfields played in Division I and went 9-7.

The Clippers ended the season playing well with three straight victories, all of which were shutouts. They haven’t allowed a goal since losing 2-0 to Rocky Point Oct. 17. Harborfields played Rocky Point in the regular season and won 1-0.

The winner of today’s game advances to play either No. 3 Rocky Point or No. 6 Southampton on Friday.
