Budget: $39.67 million
Estimated tax levy increase: 1.8 percent

Spending in the proposed budget is up by about $820,000 over the current year, according to the plan. The proposed budget maintains student programming, services and extracurricular activities.

Expenses contributing to the spending increase include additional BOCES costs, tennis court repairs and software licensing expenses, Superintendent James McKenna said.

The district was able to close a looming $200,000 budget gap by delaying a $40,000 roof project for the Laurel Annex and by securing additional aid from the state Legislature, Mr. McKenna said.

District business administrator Michael Engelhardt has said the district is expected to receive about $2.67 million in total state aid next fiscal year — a 6.36 percent increase over the current school year — and will be able to move forward with a $25,000 plan to renovate the high school computer lab.

About $1 million from the district’s fund balance will be used to offset the tax levy, which is increasing $225,000 over the current school year.
