Mattituck car thefts have police on alert
A rash of thefts from cars in Mattituck sometime overnight on Dec. 8 has police on alert.
A Deep Hole Drive resident reported just after 7 a.m. on Dec. 9 that someone had gone through three unlocked cars in her family’s driveway, stealing the keys to one of the cars, sometime overnight.
A Harvest Lane resident reported at 6:45 a.m. on Dec. 9 that an iPod and a car adaptor for the iPod were stolen from her SUV while it was parked in her driveway overnight.
Another Harvest Lane resident reported on the afternoon of Dec. 9 that his computer bag, numerous important security clearance badges and a copy of his passport were stolen from his car while it was parked in his driveway overnight.
An employee of the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation reported on the afternoon of Dec. 9 that someone had stolen $300 worth of copper wire from the DEC’s dock on Naugles Drive in Mattituck sometime since the previous day.
