The winter blahs can get old really quickly so why not add some light to this cold, snowy February?

On Wednesday, Feb. 26, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., the high school Jazz Ensemble will hold a Coffee House Night fundraiser in the high school library. It will feature an exhibit of student artwork, “open mic” acoustic entertainment from students in the music department, performances by the Jazz Ensemble and a raffle for a piece of student art. Enjoy coffee, tea and other refreshments while you mingle, check out the art and listen to some music. Admission to Coffee House Night is $10 per person.

Candles will soon glow on the birthday cakes of the following: Emily Mincieli and Taylor Montgomery on Feb. 13; Rebekah Conner and David Martinez on the 15th; Evan Viola on the 17th; Bryan Diffley, Matt Dellaquilla and Jeffrey Hauser on the 18th; Rebecca McDonald and Chris Burns on the 21st; and Carolyn McDonald and Christine Shanahan on the 23rd.

Bravo to the cast and crew of this year’s production of Disney’s “High School Musical.” The upbeat performances put a smile on everyone’s face. The fi nale had the audience singing and clapping to the familiar sounds of this great show. Thanks to everyone who came out to support our kids!

The Breakfast of Champions Student of the Month program has acknowledged the following students for various reasons: Maria Capichana,Christopher Wahlers, Samantha Fine, Joseph Considine, Leah Santacroce, Alex Mautarelli, Corinne Reda, Michael Goodale, Dylan Williams, Annalise Schweitzer and David Folk. Thanks again to the PTSA for their continued support of our students.

Mattituck Fire Department’s 42nd annual installation of officers took place Jan. 18 at the East Wind. Chief Vincent Tirelli Jr., Erik Haas and James Rugnetta were sworn in by Warren Jackson, chairman of the Board of Fire Commissioners. Chief Tirelli continued by swearing in department and company officers. Recognition went to Thomas Libretto, Firefi ghter of the Year; Matt Shaw and Amanda Lessard, EMT Providers of the Year; and Kevin McMann, Probationary Firefighter of the Year. Twenty-five-year service awards went to Richard Fraker, Tim Mc-Gowan, Robert Shaw, Scott Czujko, Kevin Romanowski, Randall Wells and Wallace Voegel. Awards for 40 years of service went to Felix Bialeski, John Harrison, Noram Reilly Jr., Ed Stelzer, David Haas, Peter Orlowski and Jerome Zuhoski. James Lessard, Lenny Llewellyn, Rich Fraker and Audrey Wrigley were the top responders of the year. Also recognized for their volunteer service were ex-chief Jason Haas, ex-captain/secretary James Rugnetta and Audrey Wrigley. Congratulations and thanks to all who serve.

Mattituck Yacht Club will offer sailing lessons this summer for kids ages 5 to 18 on Sunfish and two-handed 420 sailboats.
