A 24-year-old Mattituck man was arrested in Mattituck Friday night for being in possession of six baggies of heroin and a suboxone pill not in a prescription bottle, Southold Town police said.
Matthew Dellaquila was stopped by police at 10:11 p.m. at the intersection of New Suffolk Avenue and Marratooka lane for speeding and failing to maintain his lane, officials said.
After Mr. Dellaquila consented for police to search his car, authorities found what they described in a police press release as “six waxed elongated baggies containing heroin.” Mr. Dellaquila was also in possession of a suboxone pill not in a prescription bottle, police said.
Suboxone is use to treat opiate addiction, according to the Food and Drug Administration.
Mr. Dellaquila was arrested, charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and transferred to police headquarters to await arraignment, police said.
