Louis Waski Jr.

Lifelong Riverhead resident Louis Waski Jr. died Dec. 30, 2021, at East End Hospice Kanas Center for Hospice Care in Westhampton Beach. He was 85.

Born July 1, 1936, in Riverhead, he was the son of Louis and Sophie (Setek) Waski Sr. He graduated in 1955 from Riverhead High School, where he was a member of that year’s Rutgers championship football team. 

Louis married Patricia Twomey on Nov. 16, 1958, at St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church in Riverhead. He worked as an electrician for Local 25 International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. 

He was a member of the Ironmen racing team; a member of St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church in Riverhead; a member and past captain of Riverhead Fire Department Eagle Hose Company; a member of the Riverhead Elks Lodge; and a member of IBEW Local 25. He also played slow-pitch softball and enjoyed cars, sports, drag racing and NASCAR. 

Predeceased by his sisters, Jane O’Leary and Irene Grodski, Louis is survived by his wife, Patricia; his sons, John (Norma), of Connecticut, Louis III (Karen), of Riverhead, and Patrick (Joann), of Jamesport; and grandchildren Nadia, Paulina, Alexandra, Andrew and Ryan Elizabeth. 

The family received visitors Jan. 2 at McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home in Riverhead. A funeral service took place Jan. 3 at the funeral home, followed by interment at St. John’s Cemetery.
