Greenport roadwork, sidewalk repair will limit parking in village

Greenport shoppers will have to take a detour to find parking because of road work and sidewalk repair in the village.

The work is slated at various locations on Third Street and along the business district on Front Street from Wednesday, Sept. 30, through Friday, Oct. 2, starting at around 6:30 a.m.

“The Village Board is happy to share that significant sidewalk reconstruction is being done in the downtown district on top of the large amount of other work we did earlier this summer,” Mayor Kevin Stuessi said.

The village urges residents and visitors to avoid parking in posted work areas, use caution around crews and equipment, and allow extra time when traveling through the area.

“Part of maintaining our great reputation as a walkable historic village is repairs and replacement of sidewalks,” Mr. Stuessi said.

Work in some of these areas may continue into next week. Crews will be working on the following areas within the village:

• Front Street east of Third Street, on both sides of the road

• Mitchell Park parking area, Texaco Alley

• Main Street, southeast sidewalk

• Main Street north of Front Street, on both sides

• IGA area, including the Adams Street side and South Street

• Front Street west of Third Street through Sixth Street
