Eileen Dolores Hunt Hodgson

Eileen Dolores Hunt Hodgson passed away peacefully on July 16, 2020, at Brandywine Living in Melville, N.Y., at the age of 97.

She was born June 22, 1923, to Brigid (Garrahan) and Peter Charles Hunt in Woodhaven, N.Y., where she grew up. She raised her family in Mineola and spent many a summer and weekends on Nassau Point.

Ms. Hodgson graduated from Dominican Commercial High School and earned a B.A. in economics from Queens College, where she was a member of the Alpha Delta Pi Society.

On Jan. 29, 1949, she married William Sprague Hodgson. She worked as a flight attendant for American Airlines.

Ms. Hodgson was a longtime member of North Fork Country Club, enjoying playing bridge and developing many lasting friendships. She also belonged to the East Williston Women’s Club. 

She is survived by her children Mary Keating (Jim), John (Prudence), Anne Falco (Ed), Jane Samuels (Steve), Ellen Petersen (Mike), Sally Cappy (Paul), William (Susan Healy)and Matthew; 16 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

Reposing will be held Monday, July 20, from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Coster-Heppner Funeral Home in Cutchogue, N.Y. A funeral Mass will follow at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Good Counsel R.C. Church in Mattituck. She will be interred at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Cutchogue alongside her beloved husband of 53 years, William S., and their son Peter H.
